Poems for Fun

Poem 1

I gave a piece of
myself to
everyone I met
Yet I own a piece
of all of them
Am I rich or
penniless?
What does it
make me?
Myself or
someone else?

Poem 2

He was young and
So was she
He wanted to have fun
And so did she
But she took the game too seriously
While he played so nonchalantly.

Every wrong move she made, her selfdoubt started increasing
And imperfect strategies she used to
Deem herself as a displeasing
Human being to walk the earth, a disappointment that hurts
and was hurt.

She grew older and
So did he
She tried to hide it and
So did he
But his shallow end was too light to sink deep within
A place of hiding
Whereas her feelings ocean-deep
Were infused with her blood, a glad tiding that whispered
“He’ll never know.
If it’s unrequited,
Let it go.”
And she did.

She ended it and he
Accepted
He was fine while she
Walked out broken
Several times
But this time, it was gone for good
He was gone for good
So I empty myself of those
Flocculating feelings like a sea
Where two parts meet: one salty, one sweet
Onto paper, a screen
Never again to repeat
The same mistakes she made over
The boy that was unjustifiably
Carefree.

Poem 3

One thing if you must know
about me
Is I will detach myself from you
like we never existed,
Never spoke, never told secrets
I will go on emotional morphine
and
No longer feel
A damn thing.
I can turn it on and off now; I
have become colder now
Don’t hold my hand expecting
feathers and pearls
You have to dig deeper to rid
yourself of its thorns and burns.

Poem 4

look,
i have reached the point in my life
where i can cut off ties and
emotions effortlessly.
but i have a feeling with you, it’s not
going to be that easy.
please give me my knife back and
take back these roses that you gave
me.
