Professor Dr. Sonia Nishat Amin is a prominent historians in South Asia. The World of Muslim Women in Colonial Bengal, 1876-1939 (Brill, 1996) by her is an important contribution to history and women’s studies in our region. She is currently Honorary Professor at the Department of History, University of Dhaka. She translates poetry and fiction from Bangla to English.
