I will bear all the stains of disgrace
For you, my love,
I will embrace the guilt and
Stigma of all your infamy.
I will pluck all the thorns
On your way and make you
The bed of dust and
Lay out there the fringes of
My garment to spread it over-
Fondly in devotion to your love.
I won’t wander and worry
About the world’s sacred rites
Or bother the bindings of law,
I will in my bosom hug the
Clear imprint of your feet-
That fall on the mud.
