Can you lend me a drop?
Md Tanvirul Haque
My trunk is dry and leaf brittle.
I was born as a pebble rattled.
I try and I reach but all I find
Is more cold, hard, cruel, cragged!
Lend me a drop, lend me a lick-
The rays reach me only once a week
My hair survives another day
But I become less green and more grey.
Will the sky pity me and send
Some soft drops? Enough of the fire.
Why don’t I just perish? Flowers cry
They hold on to speckles of red and sky.
This cruel repels pity, hates love;
All it holds is ore of hatred and lead.
Lend me a drop, would you?
You are full of such green and shadow!
In this meadow, why am I left such hollow?
