The Mirror
Abdullah AL Mamun
My eyes got stuck before the mirror-
While crossing the corridor,
I feel as if I can’t recognize myself…..
Is this who I am, the down-to-earth,
Easygoing soul!
Or someone with a huge
Mass of experience……!
For sometime I lost myself into the
Timeless abyss of oblivion,
Into miles and miles of
Limitless emptiness……..
I smiled a moment
In silence in my mind,
In awe and in surprise……..
Now the multitudes
Are aware of my eyes!
I rediscovered myself, a traveler,
From an infinitely illimitable depth-
Only my two eyes busy, constantly –
Awake and duty-bound……..
And my own mind-
Depressed and subdued…………,
Helpless and down……..,
Suddenly fell on my eyes,
Robbed me of my dream-
To consciousness…….
I woke up, ……………
I stumbled and woke up again.
