rain tutelage of the fecund sky  

after sizzling summer supremacy….  

On the eve 

of the rich recovery of the numinous primeval 

rippling rain language and the earth songs  

engendered in full-throated darkness  

by eloquent tropic nights that  

reinstate mysteries  

as old as the matrix land  

and renew the powerful insidious  

intents of resurgent rain rapture….  

On the eve 

of the return of fugitive hopes—

ever-returning, swift-expiring hopes 

of the rain-cleansing of the world’s wrongs…. 

On the eve 

Of the vast ineffectual rain consecration……
