Afraid of the Dark
Paula Louise Shene
After the lights go off and the impenetrable dark
Fear of not seeing danger creeping up makes stark
Roils fingering the senses unless another is felt
Anxiety plays the nerves shattering not melt
Instead of succor, fear overtakes leaving quivering
Dear heart take heed the angels assigned for delivering
Out of danger always are standing as your guard
Fear monsters are spotted and thrown out, barred
Through coming into your slumber dreams
Hearken angels to your posts, send beams
Eternal lights shining forth
Delving into the froth
Angels waves of projection
Readying a full protection
Keeping those in their charge under God’s mark
